Postion Overview

PROCUREMENT & OPERATIONS SPECIALIST is a crucial role responsible for developing and managing supplier relationships to enhance Edison’s competitive positioning. This role involves overseeing the procurement and sourcing process, ensuring the best balance of quality, cost, and delivery performance. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvements within the supply chain.

The following are the essential functions of this position:

  • Oversee the entire supply chain process, ensuring timely supply of raw materials and finished products
  • Issue Purchase orders and follow-up regularly with vendors to ensure product is received on a timely basis and record and update stock levels in ERP system
  • Work with the Production & Operations to ensure all project needs are identified and orders placed in ample time to receive the materials when required for manufacturing
  • Review planned orders to identify vendor orders needed
  • Responsible for coordination of vendor’s production drawings
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accurate procurement of components and materials, supporting production efficiency and cost control
  • Maintain all technical data related to each product
  • Source product required for special projects
  • Monitor freight forwarders and coordinate shipments to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials
  • Customs clearance inbound materials; HS codes/B3 confirmation, CAD/B3 reconciliation (duties & GST), CARM payments
  • Monitor production schedules, supplier performance, and delivery timelines to identify and mitigate potential supply chain disruptions
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels by monitoring stock movement, ensuring availability of materials while avoiding overstocking or shortages
  • Inventory adjustments (monthly checks) & quarterly counts
  • Develop pricing strategies by analyzing cost structures, market trends, and competitive positioning to optimize procurement budgets and enhance profitability
  • Foster positive, long-term relationships with key suppliers through regular communication, collaboration, and partnership development
  • Research, evaluate, and select vendors based on factors such as quality, cost, service, and delivery performance. Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure favorable agreements
  • Identify and source products required for special projects, ensuring alignment with company specifications and quality standards
  • Address issues related to quality, delivery, and compliance to ensure they meet agreed standards
  • Continuously seek opportunities to optimize costs, improve procurement processes, and enhance supply chain efficiencies
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging suppliers to enhance purchasing strategies
  • Flexibility for Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Administration, Supply Chain Management or other related field
  • Require 3-5 years of proven experience in purchasing and sourcing roles from lighting manufacturer, lighting agency or electrical distributor
  • Relevant experience in manufacturing
  • Strong experience with ERP/MRP systems for procurement and inventory management
  • Exceptional negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Reliable, autonomous and excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Versatile with a great sense of responsibility
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining a proactive approach
  • Strong communication, teamwork and leadership skills
